Frequently Asked Questions about Event WiFi & Hotspot in Cape Town
How many users can your event WiFi support?
Our event WiFi solutions scale to support anywhere from 50 to over 500 simultaneous users, depending on the equipment deployed. We use enterprise-grade access points capable of handling high-density environments, combined with load balancing and bandwidth management to ensure every guest gets a reliable connection. For very large events, we deploy multiple access points and a dedicated internet backhaul link.
Do you provide event WiFi for both indoor and outdoor venues?
Yes, we cater to both indoor and outdoor events across Cape Town. Indoor setups include conference centres, hotel function rooms, and exhibition halls. Outdoor setups cover festival grounds, sports fields, marquee tents, and open-air wedding venues. Our outdoor equipment is weather-resistant, and we use high-gain antennas to cover large open areas effectively.
What happens if the internet connection fails during my event?
We plan for redundancy. For critical events, we set up a backup internet connection โ such as a 4G/5G mobile data failover โ that kicks in automatically if the primary line drops. We also carry spare equipment on site. For events where we provide on-site monitoring, a technician is present throughout to respond immediately to any connectivity issues.
How early do you need to set up before the event?
For most events, we arrive 2 to 4 hours before the start time to set up and test the network. Larger events with complex requirements may need a setup session the day before. We coordinate timing with your venue and event management team to ensure everything is live and tested well before the first guest arrives.
Can you set up password-protected WiFi or a branded login page?
Yes, we offer several access control options. We can secure the network with a simple shared password, set up a captive portal with a branded splash page featuring your event logo and sponsor branding, or implement individual access codes for controlled entry. Captive portals can also collect guest email addresses for post-event marketing, subject to POPIA compliance requirements.
How It Works
Venue Assessment
We visit your event venue in advance to assess the space, measure coverage requirements, identify power sources, and determine the best placement for access points and networking equipment.
Equipment Setup
On the day of the event (or the day before for large setups), we deploy enterprise-grade access points, switches, routers, and cabling. We configure the network with your preferred SSID name, password, and any captive portal or branding requirements.
Network Testing
Before guests arrive, we perform thorough testing โ walking the entire venue to check signal strength, running speed tests from multiple locations, and simulating high-density usage to ensure the network handles the load.
Event Monitoring
During the event, we can provide a technician on site or monitor the network remotely in real time. We track connected devices, bandwidth usage, and signal quality, ready to troubleshoot instantly if any issues arise.
Takedown
After the event, we dismantle all equipment, remove cabling, and leave the venue clean. We also provide a post-event report with usage statistics if required, including peak connections and total data consumed.
