Cape Town summers can be hot, and a well-installed split aircon makes a bedroom, lounge or office comfortable all year — most split units also heat in winter. Mount-IT supplies and installs Samsung, LG, Midea and Alliance split units, or installs a unit you have already bought.
Our SAQCC Gas certified technicians size the unit to your room, mount the indoor and outdoor units neatly, run and seal the piping, and commission the system. We also service, regas and repair existing aircons, including cassette units. Every installation carries our 12-month workmanship guarantee.

Frequently Asked Questions about Aircon Installation in Cape Town
What size aircon do I need for my room?
Measure the room (length × width) and use this guide: up to 15 m² needs a 9,000 BTU unit; 16–20 m² a 12,000 BTU; 21–30 m² an 18,000 BTU; 31–40 m² a 24,000 BTU; 41–50 m² a 30,000 BTU; and 51–60 m² a 36,000 BTU. If your ceiling is higher than 3 m, allow extra capacity. Send us your room size and a photo on WhatsApp and we will confirm the right size before you buy.
Should I choose an inverter or non-inverter aircon?
An inverter aircon adjusts its compressor speed instead of switching on and off, so it holds a steady temperature, runs more quietly and can use much less electricity. It is the better choice for bedrooms, lounges and offices used every day. A non-inverter (fixed-speed) unit costs less upfront and suits rooms you only use now and then.
How much does split aircon installation cost in Cape Town?
Standard installation of your own unit is R2,350 for 9,000–18,000 BTU units, R2,850 for 24,000–36,000 BTU units and R3,450 for 48,000 BTU units. Supply and install starts from R9,299 for a 9,000 BTU Midea non-inverter unit with the installation kit included. Extra piping, trunking, brackets or electrical work are quoted separately — see the price list above.
What is included in a standard installation?
Mounting the indoor and outdoor units back to back on the same wall, a 3 m pipe run with drainage, connection to an existing electrical point, and commissioning. Samsung and LG units need a separate 3 m installation kit (R1,299; Midea and Alliance units come with the kit included. Building, plastering and painting are not included.
Do I need a separate plug or circuit breaker for my aircon?
Units up to 18,000 BTU can plug into a normal wall socket. Units of 24,000 BTU and above need their own dedicated circuit breaker. If you do not have one, we install it for R1,650, including wiring from the DB board and an update to your electrical Certificate of Compliance (CoC). All electrical work is done to SANS 10142.
How often should my aircon be serviced, and what does a service include?
Regular servicing keeps your aircon cooling properly and running efficiently. Our service (R550 per unit) includes cleaning the filters, checking for gas leaks, checking the gas level and checking the overall efficiency of the unit. A regas is R450.
What warranty do I get?
You get the manufacturer warranty — Samsung 10 years on the unit and 10 on the compressor, LG 10 and 5, Midea 3 and 5, and Alliance 5 and 2 — plus our 12-month workmanship guarantee on every installation. Several manufacturers only honour their warranty when the unit is installed by an accredited installer; we are accredited for all four brands and give you proof of installation for warranty registration.
